Amazon Could Develop a LINCOLN LAWYER TV Series That Is Set in The BOSCH Universe

It looks like author Michael Connelly has big plans for a new series based on his book series The Lincoln Lawyer. CBS was going to develop a series adaptation, but they ended up not proceeding with it. He’s now in talks with Amazon Studios for a possible series and if that happens, the series could be set in the Bosch universe. Bosch is a great police procedural drama that was also created by Connelly.

Connelly confirmed that “adding such a deal would give the streamer the opportunity to eventually blend The Lincoln Lawyer with its police procedural drama Bosch.” Bosch is currently in its sixth season, and Connelly went on to say:

“And to me that is a good sales pitch because then you could have these people and the universe. Yeah, you could have people crossing paths and all that kind of stuff. It'd be fun to do."

I would personally love to see that happen! This is an opportunity that Amazon should totally take advantage of. Bosch has been a success for them and that success could continue with a Lincoln Lawyer series set in that universe.

When talking about why The Lincoln Lawyer didn’t move forward at CBS, Connelly blamed the coronavirus pandemic, saying that the production team was only two days away from filming before the production was shut down. He added:

"And then, a month later, [CBS] decided not to go forward with it," he said, claiming that the show was different from standard "network fare" in that it was going to be serialized rather than episodic.

"So it was a bit risky for them and they decided, in this environment, to not do any risky programming, and so they killed it basically. It was a shock. I mean, we had actors set, we had directors set, we had sets being built. It was right on the precipice of becoming a reality when this happened. So it's very disappointing."

While it may be disappointing, if Amazon actually picks it up, the series will be in better hands and a better way to approach it.
