Amazon Is Passing on the Series Adaptation of Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER

After talking about Amazon’s series adaptation of the Stephen King novel The Dark Tower for the past couple of years, the streamer has confirmed that they have officially decided to pass on the series. Many had given up hope after it was sat on for so long, but Amazon continued to give fans hope that it was going to happen.

Now the production company, MRC, is shopping the two original scripts around that were meant for the pilot at Amazon. This was a notoriously difficult story to translate from book to screen though, as was made evident in the 2017 film starring Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba. But this series was meant to be a more true to the book adaptation, according to Deadline, who provided the following description:

It takes place many years before the events depicted in the feature and focused on the origin story of Roland Deschain’s (Sam Strike) – how he first became a gunslinger and got his guns, his first conflict with the man in black (Jasper Pääkkönen), his first love and his first mission as a gunslinger.

This is too bad. But if Amazon and the people involved weren’t feeling up to the task, then it’s better they let it go to people who are ready to make it. Were you excited for the series? Where would you like to see it land?
