Amazon Is Building Star-Studded Cast for Upcoming Series MODERN LOVE

Amazon is bringing us a new series based on the New York Times column and weekly podcast Modern Love.

The podcast description says, “Modern Love features top actors performing true stories of love, loss, and redemption.” The podcast has been out since January 2017, so they have plenty of stories they’ve told already, and have had some incredible actors to help tell them.

The cast they’ve put together so far is shaping up to be pretty amazing in its own right. Tina Fey (30 Rock) and Dev Patel (Lion, Slumdog Millionaire) are joined by Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables, Colossal), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman, Hotel Artemis), Gary Carr (The Deuce), Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel, Ready Player One), Brandon Victor Dixon (Jesus Christ Superstar), John Gallagher Jr. (10 Cloverfield Lane, Peppermint), Andy Garcia (Ocean’s 11, The Godfather), Julia Garner (The Americans, Ozark), Catherine Keener (Capote, Get Out), Cristin Milioti (The Wolf of Wall Street, Fargo), Andrew Scott (Sherlock, Pride), John Slattery (Spotlight, Ant-Man), and Shea Whigham (American Hustle, Homecoming).

The series will be directed by various directors, including Emmy Rossum (Shameless, The Phantom of the Opera), and will have John Carney, the incredible director of Once and Begin Again serve as writer, director, executive producer, and showrunner. He said in an interview with Variety, “It’s like I woke up in the actor candy store. We’ve managed to assemble a dream cast of my favorite actors. It’s a testament to the reach of the original column and of how, now more than ever, love is the only certainty.”

I’m super excited about this series! I just downloaded the podcast so I can get all caught up. We will let you know when the half-hour series is set to air on Amazon. Is this your cup of tea? Have you heard the podcast yet? Let us know!
