Amazon Prime Picks Up Critical Role's D&D Animated Series THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA and Orders 14 Additional Episodes
As you know, Critical Role launched a crazy successful Kickstarter for an animated Dungeons & Dragons series titled Critical Role: The Legend of Vox Machina. Fans pledged over $11 million to make this series happen! That’s pretty incredible, and there’s no doubt this series is going to be a big success.
Amazon Prime has secured the rights to the series so if you want to watch it, you will have to subscribe to the streaming service. On top of that, they have ordered an additional 14 episodes of the show before the first episode has even aired! The Legend of Vox Machina will air in two 12 episode seasons.
But Critical Role has already committed to making the first season of The Legend of Vox Machina available to all its Kickstarter backers. Those backers will also get an early opportunity to view the two-part special kicking off the animated series before it hits Amazon Prime.
On top of that, Amazon Studios has obtained a first-look deal with Critical Role to develop new series that will also premiere exclusively on Prime Video.
It’s an exciting time to be a Critical Role fan! It’s pretty awesome to see the crazy success that they’ve had, and I’m very excited to see what they end up creating for us with these projects they have been and will be developing.
The Legend of Vox Machina is being produced by the animation studio Titmouse, and the series will be executive produced by Brandon Auman and Chris Prynoski in addition to the cast of Critical Role. Sung Jin Ahn will serve as executive director.
The first season of Critical Role: The Legend of Vox Machina is expected to air in late 2020.
