Amazon Studios Looking to Develop THE TOMORROW WAR 2 with Chris Pratt and Director Chris McKay
Amazon Studios has seen big success from its recently released sci-fi action film The Tomorrow War. Well, as you might expect, the streaming service is looking to produce a sequel, and they have started discussions with Skydance and Paramount Pictures to make it happen.
Obviously, the studio is looking to bring back Chris Pratt, director Chris McKay, and writer Zach Dean to develop the sequel. The original film also starred Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge, and J.K. Simmons.
Amazon picked up the first film for $200 million, and they are ready and willing to turn this thing into a big franchise. The Tomorrow War comes on the heels of the recently announced sequel for Skydance’s The Old Guard at Netflix, so Skydance is seeing a lot of success with the streaming service market.
While we have no details on what the sequel will entail, in the first movie, “the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Strahovski) and his estranged father (Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.”
