Amazon Studios Purchases Distribution Rights for 7500 Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt

7500 is the full-length feature directorial debut of Patrick Vollrath and Amazon Studios just bought the rights to it. Amazon now has the global distribution rights (except for Austria, Germany, and Switzerland) for the film starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

In “7500,” Gordon-Levitt plays the co-pilot of a plane that has been hijacked by terrorists. The title references the code 7500, which a pilot uses in the event of a hijacking. The code is designed to silently alert air traffic controllers of the situation without tipping off the hijacker.

Vollrath worked with Senad Halilbasic to write the screenplay for 7500. No release date has been announced for the film anywhere, but it was Amazon’s second purchase from Cannes Film Festival. Back in 2015, Vollrath directed a short called Everything Will Be Okay which was nominated for an Academy Award.
