Amblin is Producing a New Mystery Thriller Titled THE MECHANIC

After a heavy bidding war, Amblin Partners ended up acquiring the movie rights to a new novella by Ben Mezrich titled The Mechanic. The author, who also wrote the books Accidental Billionaires, which was adapted into The Social Network;  and Bringing Down the House, which was adapted into 21, will write the script for The Machanic.

As far as the plot details of the film go, this is what has been revealed: “An enigmatic card shark looking for an easy score. An ex-con with an inside track on a priceless haul of stolen art. A professor who uncovers a secret that could change the world. They unwittingly find themselves entangled in a mystery as old as the country itself — a mystery that someone is willing to kill for.”

Sounds like this will be a fun mystery-thriller and I’m in! I enjoy these kinds of films with lots of fun characters who become intertwined in a mystery, and I’m curious to see what this story will end up delivering.

Mezrich has also been working as a Consulting Producer on the most recent season of Showtime’s Billions.
