Amblin To Develop a Film Adaption of The Book SKY HIGH, Which is a Very Amblin Kind of Story

So my first thought when I read this was, "They're making another Sky High movie? Based on the made for TV Disney movie?" Well, it's not that. It's a book by Germano Zullo, and it sounds very Amblin, which is a good thing. It's so Amblin that Amblin acquired the rights and will be adapting it into a movie.

Greg Erb and Jason Oremland pitched the film idea that was obtained by Amblin and they already have Thor Freudenthal, who directed Diary Of A Wimpy Kid, to direct it.

The story is about an average man and his son who journey through the craziest and tallest house in the world while trying to discover it's secret. It sounds like a mix of Roald Dahl and classic Amblin films like ET, Goonies, and Gremlins

I'm so excited about this movie without even knowing much about it. I'm just excited to see a supernatural film with a young person as the protagonist. I'm getting sick of all the buff late 20 to mid 30's actors that are being cast in movies. I enjoy the stories about children who embark on wondrous and mystical adventures and this looks like it could be one of those films. Here's the description from off the book:

In this charming illustrated tale, two competing neighbors begin embellishing their houses, only to find themselves caught up in a race to build the tallest, most decadent skyscraper featuring solid gold doors, diamond-encrusted pillars, grand ballrooms, expensive paintings, live tigers, and indoor swimming pools—with consequences inevitable, and not. Kids will love spotting the funny details hidden in this witty take on an age-old moral, while their parents—particularly any who've ever undertaken a remodel—will chuckle with recognition.
