AMC CEO Says That THE WALKING DEAD is Only Just Beginning To Tap its Full Potential
While The Walking Dead still has a large and loyal fan base, there are some people out there who have jumped off the boat and are hating on the show. I’ve seen a lot of people say that the series won’t last much longer. Well, the CEO of AMC has some news for you.
According to CEO Josh Sapan, The Walking Dead franchise isn’t going away anytime soon. In fact, after nine years of the series being on the air, he says that the franchise is still in the early stages of its life. While talking to THR, he said:
"Nine years in, we believe we are just beginning to tap its full economic potential and we're extending the franchise as any media company would.”
As of right now their are two Walking Dead series, with a movie on the way featuring Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), and there’s also a third show coming that is set around two young women who grew up in the world of The Walking Dead. I’m sure there are a lot of other projects cooking as well. Sapan added:
"With its focus on the next generation of survivors led by two young female protagonists, we think this third series is a perfect gateway to advance the narrative of this universe in ways that are multi-generational, fresh and unexpected.”
It’s going to be really interesting to see how the future of The Walking Dead plays out, and if the plans for the future of the franchise will succeed. Personally, I still enjoy watching The Walking Dead and I’m excited to see what the future holds.
One thing is for sure, AMC has no plans for ending the series anytime soon. It seems like this show and the franchise as a whole will keep going for years to come.
