AMC Is Developing a Series Adaptation of the Hit Video Game ALAN WAKE

The hit action-adventure video game Alan Wake is getting a series adaptation from AMC. The project is currently in early development and the news was announced by Sam Lake the Creative Director of Remedy Entertainment, the developer of Alan Wake during the game’s 12th-anniversary celebration.

Lake said, “AMC, the wonderful, wonderful home for absolutely brilliant TV shows has bought the rights for Alan Wake. We have been collaborating on making a TV show happen. Nothing more to share at the moment, but we will certainly let you know when there is something to announce.”

While there’s not much information to share, it’s exciting to hear that Alan Wake is going to get a series adaptation. This isn’t the first time someone attempted to adapt the game as a series, but with AMC backing it, there’s actually a good chance that it will happen this time.

The story for Alan Wake followed a fictitious best-selling writer named Alan Wake who journeys to a small town in Washington state, where he hopes to rid himself of prolonged writer’s block. What follows is an increasingly surreal experience that seems to bring the plot from his last novel, which he has no memory of writing, to life.

The game leaned heavily on an episodic structure that delivered levels as if they were episodes in a television series and even features small interactions with in-game televisions that featured snippets of TV shows created for the game. This blending of game and TV helped to redefine a form of interactive storytelling.

I enjoyed playing this game and it’d be great if they managed to bring together a creative to develop a good adaptation.
