AMC Renews BETTER CALL SAUL for the Sixth and Final Season
AMC and the creators of Better Call Saul are ready to wrap up the story with one more season. While the fans are waiting for the fifth season to start, the network has renewed the series for its sixth and final season.
This is one of the best shows on TV right now. I’ve even been enjoying it more than Breaking Bad. It’s sad that the series is going to end, but we all knew that it was going to happen soon. This is one of those shows that started with a clear, planned ending, and that ending is coming.
The final season will consist of 13 episodes and co-creators Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan will return to help bring the series to a close and Gould said in a statement:
“From day one of ‘Better Call Saul,’ my dream was to tell the complete story of our complicated and compromised hero, Jimmy McGill – now AMC and Sony are making that dream come true. We couldn’t be more grateful to the fans and critics who are making this journey possible. Next month we start work on the sixth and final season — we’re going to do our damnedest to stick the landing.”
AMC Networks and AMC Studios president Sarah Barnett added:
“Greenlighting a prequel to one of the most iconic series in television history is one of the boldest swings that AMC has ever taken. But, thanks to the creative genius of Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, it has also been one of the most rewarding. It has been an absolute joy to collaborate with the extraordinarily talented team on ‘Better Call Saul,’ which – five seasons in – continues to deliver some of the best storytelling and most beautifully nuanced performances on television today. We congratulate Vince, Peter, our producers, writers and cast on a remarkable run and look forward to sharing this final chapter with fans.”
Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando, and Giancarlo Esposito will all return for the final season. I’m looking forward to seeing how the final part of this story plays out.
The final season will go into production later this year and air in 2021. Season 5 premieres on February 23rd.
