AMC Theatres Has Pushed Its Reopening Plans Back to August
AMC Theatres has pushed back its plans to reopen its cinemas again. The theater chain was supposed to open up on July 30th, but now that’s no longer the case. They are now looking to open up its venues mid to late August.
It’s not really surprising as COVID-19 continues to rage on in the country. In a press release announcing the move, AMC explained that the “new timing reflects currently expected release dates for much anticipated blockbusters like Warner Bros.’ Tenet and Disney’s Mulan, as well as release dates for several other new movies.”
It’s explained that AMC will need to have its theaters in operation for several weeks prior to the debuts of any new movies, so it can institute new cleaning and safety procedures. They still plan to play older, classic movies during that period until the new films start to roll out.
Christopher Nolan’s Tenet is supposed to be the big film that will welcome movie fans back to theaters. It’s the one we’ve all been waiting for, but as of right now it currently has no release date. I imagine we will see the release dates of other films get pushed back again as well.
The past few months since the pandemic hit have been really weird and surreal. I never thought my family and I would be living in a world like this. I can’t believe I haven’t been able to watch a movie in a movie theater for so long! It was one of my favorite things to do. I miss it, but one day the opportunity will return. We’ve just got to continue to be patient.
