SHANG-CHI Star Simu Liu and America Ferrera Joins Margot Robbie in WB's BARBIE Movie

The star of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Simu Liu, and Emmy-winning actress America Ferrera (Ugly Betty, Superstore) have joined the cast of the Warner Bros. movie based on the classic toy doll, Barbie.

The joins Margot Robbie, who will play the title character, and Ryan Gosling, who will play Ken. The film is being directed by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird, Little Women), based on an original script Gerwig co-wrote with Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story).

It is unknown who Liu or Ferrera will play in the new film. Plot details are also unknown at this time, but with the talented writers/director, and stars, I’m definitely interested in the direction the story will take.

Ferrera can next be seen in AppleTV+’s We Crashed, which bows in March and also stars Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway. She is also set to make her feature directorial debut with an adaptation of the New York Times bestselling novel I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by author Erika Sánchez.
