AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING Trailer: Yep, That House is Still Haunted
Originally scheduled to be dumped on January 2nd, 2015, Amityville: The Awakening — the fourteenth (!) movie in the Amityville movie saga — was removed from the calendar and eventually rescheduled for release this year. Dimension Films claims to have released a new trailer, but it's exactly the same as the one we posted in August of 2014, with the only exception being the date has been removed from the very end and replaced with the words "coming soon."
What is new, however, is the poster (above) that looks like an Instagram post, which I believe is the first movie poster to use that design. In any case, the movie itself looks like a retread of haunted house cliches, but horror buffs and Amityville completists (are there such people?) will probably want to check it out anyway.
Side note: this is apparently based on a true story, but seriously: how does a modern family move into a house in Amityville and NOT KNOW the stories about the haunted house there? Have you done zero research about the place you're moving into? That just seems wildly irresponsible. Maybe they'll address this in the movie, but I can't imagine there will be a satisfying excuse for why this place hasn't been condemned. Anyway...
Amityville: The Awakening stars Bella Thorne (Shake It Up), Cameron Monaghan (Gotham), and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), and it will arrive in theaters on April 1st, 2016.
AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING, is a revival of the popular franchise and a modern twist on the classic horror film.
In the film, Belle and her family move into a new house, but when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.
AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING is directed by Franck Khalfoun (MANIAC, P2) and produced by groundbreaking and top horror producer Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions (THE PURGE, INSIDIOUS, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY).
