AMONG US Animated Series Surprise-Drops on Paramount+ and the First Trailer Is Here
In an entertainment landscape where every project seems to be teased months, or even years, before release, the new animated adaptation of Among Us has taken a completely different approach.
During Summer Game Fest, fans learned that the long-awaited series wasn't just getting a trailer. It was arriving immediately.
The surprise announcement revealed that the Among Us animated series had officially landed on Paramount+, with all 10 episodes available to stream right now!
The news was unveiled live on stage at Summer Game Fest on June 5 by cast members Yvette Nicole Brown and Liv Hewson, who also introduced the show's first official trailer.
For creator Owen Dennis, dropping the series without a lengthy marketing rollout felt like the right fit for the project.
"People like surprises," Dennis tells GamesRadar+. "The whole show is full of surprises. That's what we did. Make the show full of surprises, and then surprise people to get into the show in the first place. Make everything a surprise. Let's go!"
The hit multiplayer game centers on a crew of astronauts trying to identify hidden imposters lurking among them. While the crew works together to keep their spacecraft operational by completing tasks, one or more shapeshifting killers secretly sabotage the mission and eliminate crew members before they can be discovered.
The animated series sticks closely to that formula, turning every episode into a mystery where both the characters and the audience are left trying to figure out who can actually be trusted.
Brown voices Orange, while Hewson plays Black. They're joined by a cast that includes Kimiko Glenn as Cyan, Ashley Johnson as Purple, Wayne Knight as Lime, Phil LaMarr as Brown, Randall Park as Red, Dan Stevens as Blue, Debra Wilson as Yellow, Patton Oswalt as White, and Elijah Wood as Green.
The cast seems just as excited about the unconventional release strategy as fans are. Park, who voices the ship's captain, said, "I think it's kind of cool. It's kind of like a surprise album drop."
Glenn shared a similar perspective, explaining why releasing the show immediately makes sense in today's entertainment landscape.
"People's attention spans are so limited these days. I feel like you see something and then the next day you forget about it, so it's like, why wait? Let's just drop it."
The surprises didn't stop with the trailer announcement. Paramount+ released every episode at once, allowing viewers to binge the entire season and uncover the identity of the imposter without waiting week after week for answers.
Brown is especially happy that fans can experience the mystery all in one sitting. "There are cliffhangers in each episode, you want to immediately get to the next episode," says Brown, who plays HR manager Orange. "I love that we don't have to wait, that we can just binge it when it comes out."
For a franchise built around suspicion, chaos, and shocking reveals, a stealth launch feels perfect. Now that the series is finally out, fans can jump in, start pointing fingers, and see if they can spot the imposter before the crew does.
