Netflix shared an amusing first clip from writer and director Adam McKay’s upcoming comet disaster movie Don’t Look Up. The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as two low-level astronomers who find themselves on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet earth.

The clip features the two characters trying to warn the President of the United States (Meryl Streep) and her staff, which includes Jonah Hill, of the world’s impending doom, but they aren’t really taking it seriously and suggest to “Sit tight then assess. First you sit tight, then you assess. Sit tight, and THEN, assess.”

If you enjoy McKay’s films like Vice, The Big Short, and Step Brothers, you’ll most likely like what you see in this trailer. Here’s the synopsis:

Kate Dibiasky (Lawrence), an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (DiCaprio) make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system. The problem — it’s on a direct collision course with Earth. The other problem? No one really seems to care. Turns out warning mankind about a planet-killer the size of Mount Everest is an inconvenient fact to navigate. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), Kate and Randall embark on a media tour that takes them from the office of an indifferent President Orlean (Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to the airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). With only six months until the comet makes impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media obsessed public before it’s too late proves shockingly comical — what will it take to get the world to just look up?!

When talking about McKay and the film, DiCaprio previously said, “Adam has an unparalleled ability to spark conversation with humor and timely stories. I knew when I read his script that it was incredibly unique, as it struck an important chord concerning the modern world we live in. Adam has woven an incredibly timely message about society, how we communicate, our current priorities, and the climate crisis into an absurdly funny yet important movie.”

Don’t Look Up also stars Mark Rylance, Ron Perlman, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi (aka Kid Cudi), Himesh Patel, Melanie Lynskey, Michael Chiklis, and Tomer Sisley.

The movie will be released in select theaters on December 10th and on Netflix December 24th:
