Amusing Pitch Meeting For Disney's CRUELLA

I actually really enjoyed Disney’s latest live-action film Cruella, which is based on the classic Disney villain Cruella DeVil from 101 Dalmatians. I thought it did a great job telling her origin story and Emma Stone was pretty fantastic in the role.

While I liked the film a lot, it doesn't mean there weren’t any aspects of it to make fun of, and that’s exactly what this latest Pitch Meeting episode does, and it’s pretty amusing:

In the past few years, Walt Disney has fallen in love with the idea of churning out live-action remakes and spinoffs of their beloved animated classics. Movies like Mulan, The Jungle Book, The Lion King, Aladdin and more have all gotten the live-action. Now, it’s the turn of 101 Dalmatians. Kind of.

Cruella definitely raises some questions. Like how do you make a villain known for wanting to skin dogs engaging as a protagonist? What’s up with all the music? How did Cruella set up that parachute? Did we really need know the origin of her name? Are Pongo and Perdita brother and sister? Why did she give people dogs? Is it even possible for Emma Stone’s Cruella to turn into the Cruella De Ville that people know? If not, why is this a thing?

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Disney’s Cruella! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.
