Amusing Trailer For the Zombie Christmas Musical Film ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE

Is the world ready for a zombie Christmas musical!? We'll find out! The first trailer has just been released for a new horror comedy called Anna and the Apocalypse.

Do you remember the guy who made all those "Ryan Gosling Won't Eat His Cereal" videos? His name was Ryan McHenry and the film is based on his BAFTA-nominated short film, Zombie Musical. He tragically passed away of cancer before the movie could enter production, but it did end up getting made, and it looks like it will be a wild and fun flick. Here's the synopsis:

Teenage Anna’s life is typical enough. Chafing against the narrow horizons of her small town, she dreams of bigger things. It’s not so much that she doesn’t love her friends and family — she does — it’s just that they’re all so… familiar. So typical. So predictable. Her childhood best friend aches for a romance that she has no interest in, no matter how close they might be. The school jock that she had a fling with is proving to be disappointingly predictable in his behavior. And it’s becoming progressively harder for Anna to conceal her disappointment with just how satisfied her widower-father is with the blue collar simplicity of his never-changing existence. And then it all goes to shit.

The night of the high school Christmas concert marks the arrival of the undead in Anna’s small town. And so begins a struggle to band together and survive. Future dreams are forced aside by the overwhelming need to survive the present in this winning Scottish musical-horror-comedy.

McHenry is credited as a co-writer alongside Alan McDonaldJohn McPhail stepped in to direct the feature following McHenry’s death, and it looks like he did a solid job. I'm pretty excited to see this. Watch the trailer below and tell us what you think!

First look at the upcoming zombie Christmas musical ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE from director John McPhail. Anna's (Ella Hunt) life is dominated by the typical concerns of her youthful peers until the Christmas season in her small town brings not Santa, but an outbreak of the undead in this genre-mashing holiday horror musical.

The short film that started it all. This film got us a feature film deal with Black Camel Pictures (OUTPOST franchise, SUNSHINE ON LEITH), and won us a BAFTA. It's three years since we filmed it and we've moved on a lot as film makers, but with the feature in very late development we can finally show this to the world!
