Amy Poehler to Star in, Produce, and Direct WINE COUNTRY for Netflix

I loved Amy Poehler in Parks and Recreation and she’s fantastic in Baby Mama. Unfortunately, I haven’t been a big fan of her more recent films such as Sisters. Maybe that will change with her new project Wine Country. Not only will Poehler star in the film, she’s also producing and directing the film. Maybe that will help her own comedic brand shine better. Of course, as we’ve come to expect, Tina Fey will be involved in the film as well. The script is actually being written by Parks and Rec writer Emily Spivey and Liz Cackowski. Joining Poehler, Fey, and Spivey (yes she’s also going to be in the film), we will get to see Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, and Maya Rudolph star in the film. Netflix says it will be “your new favorite movie,” and that is a bold claim. Let’s hope they can back it up. According to THR:

Wine Country tells the story of old friends who go to Napa for a weekend getaway to celebrate a 50th birthday.

Wine Country will be Poehler’s film directorial debut and has potential with this star-studded cast. No release date has been announced, but principal photography is set to start at the end of the month in Los Angeles and Napa.
