Amy Sedaris Joins THE LION KING Cast as a Brand New Character

Actress and comedian Amy Sedaris (Strangers With Candy, At Home With Amy Sedaris) has joined the cast of Disney’s live-action Lion King remake.

She will be voicing a brand-new animal character, an elephant shrew whose name is not yet known. Sedaris is known for her many roles in cartoon voice work (BoJack Horseman, Star Vs. The Forces of Evil, Bob’s Burgers, American Dad, Puss in Boots), TV, and movies. She worked with director Jon Favreau previously on his movie Chef.

She is so funny and will be a great asset to the already fantastic cast that includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Billy Eichner as Timon, John Oliver was Zazu, and Seth Rogen as Pumbaa.

From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

The Lion King comes out July 19, 2019. I can’t wait! If you want to watch the trailer for the film again, you can watch it here.
