An 18-Year-Old Named Ben Was Just Elected Mayor of a Real Town
Parks and Recreation is becoming a reality. Fans of the show know that one of the jokes is that the ever serious and nerdy Ben Wyatt (played by Adam Scott) was elected to the office of Mayor of his hometown of Partridge, Minnesota at the age of 18.
Because he was so young, things did not go well, and he ended up becoming a laughing stock. It’s weird how reality is starting to mirror fiction.
Yoncalla, Oregon has elected the 18-year-old Ben Simons to be mayor. He won 41% of the vote and hopes to do good for the community.
Of course, due to the similarities to Scott’s character, fans of Parks and Rec are having some a hard time not mentioning Ice Town, the thing that got Wyatt impeached. Hopefully, Simons can do a better job.
