An American Backpacker in Norway Has God-Like Powers in Trailer for MORTAL
Lionsgate has released a new trailer for the superpower action-thriller Mortal. The movie comes from director André Øvredal (Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Scary Stories To Tell in The Dark), and it’s described as "Chronicle meets X-Men meets Thor." They even managed to work an “X” into the poster for the film.
The film tells the story of a young man named Eric who is backpacking in Norway. It turns out that he has God-like fire-starting powers based on ancient Norwegian mythology. Nat Wolf plays Eric in the film, and he is joined by Iben Akerlie as Christine, a young psychologist who is trying to help him.
Here’s the synopsis:
In this spellbinding thriller, a sleepy Norwegian town erupts after an American backpacker is arrested. Witnesses claim a teen died after touching the stranger, and that he inexplicably started a fire that engulfed a farm. He warns a psychologist, Christine, that he has supernatural powers, and that anyone who gets too close to him dies. Is he a liar, a freak of nature, an angry god? Determined to find the truth, Christine draws nearer, and what she finds is beyond her wildest imaginings…
It looks like a good movie worth checking out! The cast also includes Priyanka Bose, Arthur Hakalahti, Anna Sedunova, and Per Egil Aske.
Lionsgate and Saban Films will release the film direct-to-VOD on November 6th.
