An ASSASSIN'S CREED Anime Series Is Being Developed By Netflix's CASTLEVANIA Producer
The same producer behind Netflix's upcoming new Castlevania animated series, Adi Shankar, has announced that he is also developing an Assassin's Creed anime series with Ubisoft. This is pretty awesome news! I love the Assassin's Creed franchise and it seems like an anime series would be perfect for the franchise! Here's the announcement that Shankar made on Facebook:
"I'm happy to let you guys know that I've selected my next project! I played the first edition of Assassin's Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream. At that moment I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin's Creed and create an original story set in it as an anime series. If anyone tells you not to follow your passion in life they are wrong."
I absolutely hated the live-action movie that was released. It was one of the worst films to come out last year. That doesn't mean we can't get an awesome anime series, though! It looks like Shankar did a great job with Castlevania, and I'm looking forward to seeing how his Assassin's Creed adaptation turns out.
There's no word on if this will be developed for Netflix, but it seems like it would be a great place for it. On top of the Castlevania animated series, the streaming service is also producing an adaptation of The Witcher. Seems like Netflix wants in on the video game business and it seems like Assassin's Creed is a property they'd want to add to their lineup.
There are do details on what characters the series will use or what story it will tell. But Shankar does mention "the first edition of Assassin's Creed" and also uses the original game's logo in his post, so that might be a hint of where he's looking to set the series. We'll just have to wait and see.
