ANDOR Season 2 Becomes the Highest-Rated Live-Action STAR WARS Project Ever on Rotten Tomatoes

The second season of Andor hasn’t even fully aired yet, but those first three episodes that were released are awesome! This is top-tier Star Wars storytelling, and the critics and audiences are loving it!

Andor Season 2 has officially shot to the top spot as the highest-rated live-action Star Wars series or film on Rotten Tomatoes, currently sitting at 98%. That bumps Season 1, the previous record holder with 96%, into second place, followed closely by the legendary Empire Strikes Back (95%).

To put it in perspective, the lowest-rated live-action title is The Rise of Skywalker with a pretty brutal 51%. It’s even lower than Solo (69%) and Attack of the Clones (61%).

There are a few reasons this latest season might be climbing so high. One key factor is that Disney+ gave critics access to the entire 12-episode season before release, which is a rare move.

Most of the time, streamers send just a handful of episodes to reviewers before launch. For example, Skeleton Crew dropped three episodes for early review (92%) and The Acolyte offered four (78%).

Providing the full season upfront usually signals a studio’s confidence in what they’ve got. Or, at the very least, that the back half of the season lands harder than the beginning, which seems to be the case here.

Of course, scores this early can still shift. The review embargo just lifted yesterday, and more critics will be weighing in as the season unfolds. But it seems Andor is the Star Wars story that keeps surprising fans, not with fan service, but with substance and a great story.

I do have to point out that Andor Season 2 isn't the most critically acclaimed Star Wars project of all time, it is for live-action, but multiple seasons of The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, as well as Star Wars Visions Volume 2, which each hold a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
