ANDOR Season 2 Gets a New Promo Spot and Unique Release Schedule
Lucasfilm is switching things up for the return of Andor Season 2, which is the final chapter in Cassian Andor’s journey. it’s also getting a unique release structure that sets it apart from the usual Disney+ rollout.
Instead of the typical weekly drop, Andor Season 2 will premiere with a three-episode launch on April 22, 2025, and then continue with weekly batches of three episodes. That’s four weeks total for the 12-episode season. Here’s how it breaks down:
April 22: Episodes 1–3
April 29: Episodes 4–6
May 6: Episodes 7–9
May 13: Episodes 10–12
This staggered chunk release format is rare for Star Wars shows on Disney+. Season 2 of Andor is split into four distinct arcs, each a trio of episodes that covers three intense days of action, then jumps a full year ahead.
This is a format Tony Gilroy describes as a “fascinating experiment.” He adds, “ I don't know if anyone's ever done it before. We're going to jump a year between each block, and we're going to use that negative space in a really interesting way, coming back for three days at a time, so it's like a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
“The challenge is, how do you come back [to start each chapter]? We wanted to have it be as elegant and seamless as possible, and just hit the ground running. There was a lot of experimentation to make sure that would work.”
To build momentum ahead of the premiere, Disney+ also dropped a new promo spot that you can watch below, featuring fresh glimpses of Cassian, Mon Mothma, Luthen Rael, Vel Sartha, K-2SO, and Saw Gerrera.
The trailer leans into the growing urgency of rebellion, with a voiceover declaring, “The revolution is coming alive.” That message sets the tone for a season that focuses on pulling the fragmented resistance into a unified front.
“Season One followed Cassian’s reluctant journey from cynical nobody to revolutionary volunteer. Andor Season Two will see him transform from soldier to leader to hero on the way to his epic destiny. From the very first scene, Cassian’s story has activated an ever-widening ensemble of allies and enemies.
“Season Two will see these relationships intensify as the horizon of galactic war draws near. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices, and conflicting agendas will become profound. Who will live to see their dream realized? Who will realize what the dream cost?”
Along with Luna, the returning cast includes Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu and Forest Whitaker. Ben Mendelsohn is also back as Imperial officer Orson Krennic and Alan Tudyk as K-2SO.
Gilroy penned the first three episodes, while Beau Willimon, Dan Gilroy, and Tom Bissell each take over subsequent blocks. Directing duties are also split into three phases: Ariel Kleiman handles the first half (Episodes 1–6), Janus Metz takes the next three, and Alonso Ruizpalacios wraps things up with the final episodes (10–12).
Andor Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on April 22, 2025.
