Andrew Garfield and Maya Hawke Want Internet Stardom in First Trailer for MAINSTREAM
The first trailer has been released for director Gia Coppola’s film Mainstream. This is her second feature, coming out after her 2013 film Palo Alto. Coppola co-wrote the screenplay for this film alongside Tom Stuart.
The film stars Maya Hawke, Andrew Garfield, Nat Wolff, and Jason Schwartzman, and “the social media-obsessed satire follows a young woman (Hawke) who thinks she’s found a path to internet stardom when she starts making YouTube videos with a charismatic stranger (Garfield)––until the dark side of viral celebrity threatens to ruin them both.”
This movie looks like a cautionary tale, and those can really go either way. It has a great cast to tell the story though. The film was picked up by IFC Films, and is set to open in select theaters, on digital platforms and on VOD on May 7th. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think.
