Andrew Garfield Denies Reports That He Has Been Cast in Marvel's SPIDER-MAN 4
Fans are pretty certain that after the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel wouldn’t leave a paycheck on the table by not inviting Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back for another Spider-Man adventure.
The multi-verse is still cracked open, and we haven’t even begun to see the ramifications of the dangers that lie ahead. While it may or may not be in Spider-Man 4 that we see them return, fans are pretty sure that’s a strong possibility, as is the ensemble flick, Avengers: Doomsday, which will hit theatres just before.
As the fourth Spider-Man is gearing up to start production, we have started speculating about who and what the movie will be about. Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker has already been rumored to have joined the cast, and the actor is shutting down those rumors.
The two-time Oscar nominee denied the recent reports, telling GQ UK: “I’m gonna disappoint you. Yeah, no. But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on.”
Garfield famously denied the rumors he was going to be in No Way Home as well, but that’s just the name of the game when you’re in Marvel movies!
Of course he’s going to deny it, and we just won’t know either way, until they want us to. Usually there’s a leaked photo that tips us off before we are supposed to know.
I, for one, would be thrilled to find out the film’s surprises for the first time when I go to the theatre on opening night, but we will just have to wait and see if that works out.
Garfield has expressed his willingness to return, telling Esquire in October, “For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into. I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”
Sony has added the Tom Holland-led untitled fourth Spider-Man to the release calendar for July 24, 2026, with Destin Daniel Cretton directing.
