In the kindest casting decision of all time, Andrew Garfield and Jessica Chastain are set to play Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker in the upcoming film, The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

The film will be directed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick) with a screenplay by Abe Sylvia based on the 2000 documentary of the same name.

The movie is said to follow the story of “televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker (Garfield and Chastain) who formed the world’s largest religious broadcasting network. The two quickly fell into financial improprieties, scheming rivals, and sexual scandal that not only broke up the marriage but also brought down their empire.”

If you were a kid in the ‘80s, you were bound to see the Bakkers while flipping through your limited channels, and they were a trip. Seeing Garfield and Chastain cast in these roles was like seeing that Charlize Theron was cast as Aileen Wuornos in Monster. You really didn’t think it could work, but the wonders of makeup abound.
