Andrew Garfield on Wanting to Return to Play Spider-Man Again After NO WAY HOME
Andrew Garfield sure seems to be enjoying the opportunity to talk about Spider-Man again! For the longest time all he could do was deny the fact that he was in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and now he’s out there talking about it every chance he gets! It must be very freeing for him!
The big question now is, will we ever see Garfield back in the role of Spider-Man again? You can bet that Sony and Marvel are having this discussion, especially after the response from fans when he and Tobey Maguire showed up in the movie! There’s certainly an appetite out there and the continuation of the stories for these two Spider-Man characters could be incredibly successful.
Garfield hopes to have the opportunity again, and when asked if he would ever suit up again in an interview with EW, he said:
"Never say never. It's a character that's always going to be so meaningful to me, and so beautiful to me and again, it comes back to service. I think if there's a way, because that's what that character is all about, he's all about serving the greater good and serving his fellow people, serving humanity and all life."
"So, if there's a way for me to continue to add to the legacy of that character in a way that feels like it's of service to an audience, of service to the themes that [co-creator] Stan Lee injected that character with," Garfield said, "I'm open, of course, I'm very, very open, but it would have to be very, very special. It would have to be very, very meaningful and fun, and joyful, like doing No Way Home was."
I don’t know about you, but I would like to see the stories of Maguire and Garfield continue in their respective universes. We just don’t know if that will actually happen. We have no idea if we will see these characters again! But, it’s hard to think that they would bring them back like this and then ditch them forever. But, we’ll see.
Garfield went on to add that he feels "very connected" to the character who is "always going to be a part of me, whether I'm playing the character or not.”
