Andrew Garfield Will Play Astronomer Carl Sagan in New NASA-Set Film Project VOYAGERS
Andrew Garfield (Amazing Spider-Man) and Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing) are set to star in a new film project for FilmNation titled Voyagers. Garfield is set to play astronomer Carl Sagan and Edgar-Jones will take on the role of Cosmos filmmaker Ann Druyan. This movie is going to tell a fascinating story, especially for those of you who are NASA and space enthusiasts.
The movie is set in 1977 “as NASA prepared to launch humanity’s first interstellar probes and a team led by Sagan set out to create a message to accompany them — The Golden Record. But what starts out as a race-against-the-clock mission becomes an epic, unexpected love story between Sagan and his collaborator Druyan.”
Druyan is actually working on the film with screenwriters Lelio and Jessica Goldberg, who wrote the original screenplay, which is based on interviews with Druyan and several other people who worked on the Golden Record project.
This is going to be a great film project for Garfield and Edgar-Jones and it will be directed by Sebastian Lelio, who most recently helmed The Wonder with Florence Pugh. The movie is being produced by Ben Browning for FilmNation Entertainment, Lynda Obst, and Druyan.
