Andrew Lincoln Teases a Possible Return of Rick Grimes to THE WALKING DEAD Universe
Andrew Lincoln has had a number of great roles in film, TV, and on stage throughout his career, but the role for which he is best known will probably always be that of Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead.
That show took the world by storm, gaining a huge fanbase and a long-running universe that is beginning to wrap up. The character Rick was the leader and center of the show’s story until in season 9, episode 5, “What Comes After,” when he was seemingly killed in an explosion.
Viewers found out that he had actually been rescued, and had been working for a government entity called the Civic Republic Military. His return in the limited spinoff The Ones Who Live saw his reunion with Michonne and their children, and set the stage for more possible story.
Could we see Rick return to wrap up his relationships with the remaining friends-turned-family who are still standing? Lincoln hinted at such an event during a recent interview on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, where he was asked if he would ever go back, and he responded, “To the show? Yeah, well, there’s a conversation happening right now.”
What does that conversation entail? We don’t know, but that info is intriguing! Andrew Lincoln was such a great part of that series, and I do think it would be cool to see him one last time to see how everyone (who survived) has landed this long after the walker-apocalypse.
