Andy Richter Talks About The Differences In Hollywood Now Versus 1993, And It's Pretty Fascinating

With television reaching an all-time high in quality, Andy Richter says things have changed a lot since the 90s. One of those big changes is the emphasis on digital content, which Richter says has become an entirely different entity on Conan. He's not wrong as the show likely gets a healthy amount of revenue from its YouTube channel, and has managed to spawn a spin-off series off of one of its segments (Clueless Gamer).

Another thing Richter mentions is the reduction in pay. With so many networks having great shows, the television audience is being spread thin and networks are competing for ratings numbers that would've been laughed at by networks in the 90s. In a biting remark, Richter says successful shows are pulling numbers that his shows were canceled for back in the day, which is pretty telling.

Hear Richter go more in-depth on all that in a fascinating conversation he has with AV Club below.
