Andy Serkis and Cynthia Erivo Join Idris Elba's LUTHER Movie
Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Genius: Aretha) and Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, War for the Planet of the Apes) are set to join Idris Elba in Netflix’s Luther film, which will continue the story of the crime-drama series.
The series follows DCI John Luther (Elba), a murder detective perpetually drawn into the darkness of the crimes he’s investigating. I’m in the middle of watching the series right now, and so far it’s a great show!
The film will be directed by Jamie Payne (The Alienist), and it’s being billed as “an epic continuation of the Luther saga.” The script for the film comes from series creator and writer Neil Cross. There’s no information shared on who Erivo and Serkis will play in the film.
When previously talking about the movie, Elba said, “With film, the sky is the limit. You can be a little bit more bold with the storylines. And a little bit more international, and a little more up the scale. But John Luther is always going to be John Luther.”
