Andy Serkis Is Reading THE HOBBIT for Charity on Friday
Andy Serkis is an incredible actor, and one of his most famous roles was that of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings. Well, in these weird times of social distancing and quarantine, Serkis has decided to raise some money for charities. On May 8, Serkis will be reading The Hobbit, the prequel to LOTR, from start to finish, which is expected to take roughly 12 hours. Any and all money raised will be split between NHS Charities Together and Best Beginnings. Talking about the event, Serkis said:
So many of us are struggling in isolation during the lockdown.
While times are tough, I want to take you on one of the greatest fantasy adventures ever written, a 12-hour armchair marathon across Middle Earth whilst raising money for two amazing charities which are doing extraordinary work right now to help those most in need.
The event will start at 10 AM GMT, which will be about 6 AM ET in the United States. More details about the stream will be revealed via a GoFundMe page that Serkis has set up where you can make your donations. I know that I am very excited for this experience!
