Ang Lee's Will Smith Vs. Will Smith Assassin Film GEMINI MAN Gets a Fall 2019 Release Date
It's a project that has been in development for the better part of 20 years and now it looks like The Gemini Man may finally be coming to theaters. Deadline Hollywood reports that Paramount Pictures has just dated the film for an October 4, 2019 release. Ang Lee is slated to direct the project from Skydance Media and Will Smith is set to star. It's being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and executive produced by Don Murphy (all the Transformers movies).
The plot focuses on "an aging assassin who tried to get out of the business but finds himself in the ultimate battle: fighting his own clone who is 25 years younger than him and at the peak of his abilities."
The late Tony Scott was once considered to direct the project. Skydance acquired the project in 2016. The Gemini Man was originally set up at Disney in 1997, but the project ran into a dead end when producers realized the VFX at the time weren’t available for the same actor to play the same part.
