Angela Bassett Is the Latest Addition to Marvel’s BLACK PANTHER
Angela Bassett has officially joined the cast of Marvel's Black Panther. Marvel made the announcement and revealed that she will be taking on the role of Ramonda, the mother of T’Challa, a.k.a. Black Panther. Here is a little background on the character:
Ramonda was a woman from South Africa who won the heart of T'Chaka King of Wakanda after his previous wife N'Yami died giving birth to T'Challa. She was surrogate mother to Hunter and T'Challa and with T'Chaka produced a daughter named Shuri.
Bassett makes a great addition to an already fantastic cast that includes Chadwick Boseman in the title role alongside Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, and Florence Kasumba.
Black Panther is being directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed), and the film arrives in theaters on February 16, 2018. To catch up on all of our previously released Black Panther movie news, click here.
