ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW LEAF Is Now The Best-Selling Game In The Series

In a wild yet inevitable turn of events, Animal Crossing: Wild World for the Nintendo DS no longer holds the title as the best-selling Animal Crossing game in the entire franchise.

In the latest financial report by Nintendo, it was revealed that the 3DS iteration of the game, Animal Crossing: New Leaf surpassed Wild World and was able to push out 11.78 million units worldwide, including the sales for the updated Welcome Amiibo version. This figure is slightly higher than the 11.75 million units for Wild World on the DS. Looking at the game’s overall performance on the 3DS, New Leaf is the seventh highest-selling game on the console, with Mario Kart 7 at the top after selling a total of 17.21 units.

The performance of New Leaf on the 3DS is a testament to how Animal Crossing remains popular among gamers worldwide, making it one of Nintendo’s most successful original IP. Given its impressive performance, it is certain that the company already has plans for a proper Animal Crossing game for the Nintendo Switch.
