Anna Diop Confirms Starfire Will Get Her Classic Costume On TITANS
The build up to Titans hasn’t been without controversy, and there’s been a few people who’ve taken issue with the show’s bold new take on the Teen Titans, and changes to their characters. Some have had something to say about Anna Diop’s Starfire, who is rocking a mink coat in a lot of the promotional photos for the show and not her traditional costume. Diop squashed the discussion that Starfire’s traditional garb doesn’t appear in the show, and set the record straight for Comicbook at New York Comic Con:
As soon as I put it on, everyone was flipping out. It’s awesome because it’s something that so many people have seen for so long and it means so much to people and this is the first time we’re bringing it to life, but you know — our story takes its time. It takes its time, it’s an origin story, so it takes its time in the characters coming to this place where you see them and the way that everyone’s always known. I hope that the audience can be patient with us and have fun with us. It’s a ride, and it’s a fun one.
The buzz for the first two episodes at New York Comic Con has been positive, but as someone who has attended San Diego Comic Con, I wouldn’t put a ton of stock in that. It’s not hard to get a crowd of people sitting in line for hours on end not to get excited about anything, much less something they stood in line half a day for. We’ll all get a chance to judge for ourselves soon enough anyway as Season 1 premieres on DC Universe Friday, October 12.
