Anna Faris Leaves Popular TV Series MOM Ahead of Season 8

For the last 7 years, Anna Faris has starred alongside Allison Janney on the CBS series Mom. Well, even though the series is continuing with an eighth season, it was recently revealed that Faris will not be continuing on. In a statement, the actress said:

The past seven years on Mom have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career. I’m so thankful to Chuck [Lorre], the writers, and my amazing castmates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I’ll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family.

CBS, Warner Bros. Television, and Chuck Lorre Productions released the following joint statement in response:

From the inception of Mom, Anna was the first and only choice for the role of Christy. We are so proud of the stories we have been able to tell during Anna’s seven years with us. We wish Anna all the best, and we thank her for her beautiful portrayal.

While the show is going to be losing one of its stars, whose character will not be recast, it appears that the separation has been in good faith instead of some nasty fighting or scandal. I’m very interested to see how the show writes Christy out at this point and how it continues without her. Mom is currently set to premiere its 8th season in November.
