Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons Join Forces for High-Stakes Geo-Political Thriller Series EMBASSY
Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons are teaming up for the intense new geo-political thriller series Embassy, a project already shaping up to be one of the most exciting international television productions in development.
In Embassy, armed mercenaries storm the U.S. embassy in London, forcing American diplomat Layla (Kendrick) into an impossible position. She must decide whether to protect the U.S. ambassador (Simmons) or obey his orders to extract a high-value asset trapped inside the embassy.
As a massive conspiracy begins to unravel, Layla has no choice but to trust her instincts—and the reluctant assistance of her ex-fiancé, a British SAS operative—through a tense, life-or-death countdown to extraction.
The series was created and written by Rom Lotan and will be directed by John Strickland, known for his work on Bodyguard, Line of Duty, and The Flight Attendant. Production is scheduled to begin in February 2026, with filming set in both London and Cologne.
While Embassy sounds like it’ll be a gripping, high-tension thriller, both leads have a packed slate of projects ahead. Kendrick will star opposite Seth Rogen in the upcoming comedy Babies, which begins filming in Los Angeles this November. She’s also set to appear with Adam Driver and Daniel Kaluuya in Chris Rock’s untitled A24 feature, marking Rock’s directorial debut.
Simmons, meanwhile, continues his streak of great performances, with upcoming roles in The Westies, The Prince, Reykjavik, and Heart of the Beast.
The series comes from AGC Television, which will handle worldwide distribution and present the show to buyers at Mipcom.
