AnnaSophia Robb Set To Star in a New Horror Series Called EMMA
AnnaSophia Robb (The Act, Soul Surfer) is set to star in a new horror series called Emma, which is being produced for the upcoming streaming service Quibi.
Emma follows the “dark journey of a young woman (Robb) down on her luck and pregnant under mysterious circumstances. She must deal with the increasingly disturbing effects of her pregnancy and the potential conspiracy surrounding it.”
Sounds like this could be quite a disturbing story. Any horror film built around a mysterious pregnancy can’t be good. There’s something about horror films that deal with pregnancy that makes me uneasy.
The movie is being produced by Dark Castle Entertainment and Propagate. Mary Harron (Alias Grace) will direct and co-executive produce the series. The script was written by Ben Ketai (StartUp).
Robb is a talented young actress who most recently appeared in the Hulu limited series The Act, and was a regular on the PBS drama series Mercy Street and starred as Carrie Bradshaw on the CW’s Sex and the City prequel series The Carrie Diaries.
Quibi is developing a lot of interesting shows, but I’m still not sold on the streaming service. Quibi is the digital shortform service run by Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman, and it’s set to launch in April.
