Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson in Trailer for DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS Remake THE HUSTLE
“Why are women better suited to the con than men?” “Because we’re used to faking it?” “Because no man will ever believe a woman is smarter than he is.”
Here’s a fun trailer for the remake of the 1988 crime comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Hustle. The original starred Steve Martin and Michael Caine as “two con men [who] try to settle their rivalry by betting on who can swindle a young American heiress out of $50,000 first.” The Hustle is following suit as far as plot goes, and has changed up the gender roles this time around. The Hustle stars Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables, Colossal) and Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect movies, How to be Single), and is being directed by Chris Addison, who has directed episodes of Veep, Fresh off the Boat, and Playing House, so we know he has a background in, and an eye for, comedy.
I love Rebel Wilson. She is smart and willing to do everything from deadpan to physical comedy to bring us laughs. And Anne Hathaway is fine. I don’t know what the hell is up with her horrible accent, but it should turn out ok, as this movie looks super funny.
Are you on board for this comedy? The Hustle hits theaters May 10th.
