Anne Hathaway in Negotiations to Peplace Amy Schumer in BARBIE Movie

Oscar winner Anne Hathaway may be getting ready to move into the dream house for Sony's Barbie movie.

THR reports that Hathaway is in talks to star in the feature project. She would replace Amy Schumer, who was announced as the star back in December, but was forced to drop out in March because of "scheduling conflicts."

Meanwhile, Australian director Alethea Jones is in negotiations to direct the movie, after Hathaway recommended her for the position.

The Barbie movie is expected to put a contemporary spin on the toy following the story of a woman that slowly realizes that she doesn’t fit into the perfect land of Barbies and travels to the real world, where she discovers that being unique is valuable.

The studio is still eyeing a June 29, 2018, release, but Hathaway's schedule may cause that date to be adjusted.
