A trippy trailer has been released for the musical thriller Mother Mary starring Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada, Ocean’s 8).

The cast also includes Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Isaura Barbé-Brown, Alba Baptista, and Sian Clifford, with FKA Twigs.

The film is written and directed by David Lowery (Ain't Them Bodies Saints, Pete's Dragon, A Ghost Story, The Green Knight, Peter Pan & Wendy) with original songs written and produced by Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX; with more songs by FKA Twigs.

The synopsis reads: “Long-buried wounds rise to the surface when iconic pop star Mother Mary (Anne Hathaway) reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm (Michaela Coel) on the eve of her comeback performance.”

This looks like a mind-bending thriller that will keep you intrigued and guessing until the end, and Hathaway looks right in her element as the returning pop star.
