Another Alternate Gorr The God Butcher Design From THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER

Here’s a new piece of concept art featuring another alternate design from Christian Bale’s Gorr The God Butcher from Thor: Love and Thunder. I believe this art comes from Marvel Studios artist Andy Park. The character design looks more like something you’d see from Star Wars than Marvel.

The images were shared on Instagram, and they came with the following note:

Another early concer art for Gorr played by #christianbale in Thor : Love and Thunder, a movie directed by #taikawaititi. (And those concept under @andyparkart lead). This one was made not long after Bale was casted for the role. So I was aiming for a blend between the comics features (here the tentacles at the rear of the head) and the actor likeness (the face). Most of the tries we did making the nostrils close to the comics character ended too often with the same comment : “It’s Voldemort!”. And same thing for the really tiny panties from the comics : we’ve chosen to get rid of it as the result was weird or disturbing…Here I’ve kept an overall white value on the body and to avoid a simple naked guy I’ve added a torso armor like some Greek ones, mimicking the anatomy with muscles. Still with light values. Then the black parts were refering to the black shapes and pattern surrounding the character in the comics.
I’ve found Christian Bald performance really impressive! What do you think of it?

In an interview with D23 Magazine, Chris Hemsworth talked about Gorr, saying: "[Gorr is] not a straightforward villain... there's a real complexity to him. It's not black and white, what he's doing. He has a truthful motivation, which I think makes for the most interesting kind of villain," Hemsworth said. "You might not agree with how he's going about it, but you understand why he's been tipped over the edge and why he's gone down this path. It's a really challenging one for Thor, because the set of questions Gorr's posing does hold some truth—but he can't let Gorr destroy the universe in the process. That, I think, makes this a greater dynamic and not as predictable as the straightforward good gut vs. bad guy scenario we've seen before."

Check out the art below and tell us what you think about the design!
