Another G.I. JOE Movie is in Development at Paramount Pictures

With production wrapped up on the upcoming G.I. Joe movie Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, Paramount Pictures and Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures are already moving forward on another G.I. Joe project. The studios are looking to hire Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse to write the script.

There aren’t any story details to share, but the film project will build on the Snake Eyes movie. It’s explained that the new movie will not quite be a sequel but rather “an expansion to take audience goers deeper into the world of Joe.”

We’ll just have to wait to see how this all plays out and we’ll have a much better idea of where Snake Eyes’ journey leads him when the first movie is released. I really hope that this next attempt at bringing G.I. Joe to the big screen is better than the other films that were made.

Robert Schwentke (Red, The Captain) directed Snake Eyes and Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding is playing the title role. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who produced Snake Eyes and is also producing the new film as well.

Shrapnel and Waterhouse previously wrote the Kristen Stewart drama, Seberg. They are also writing The Great Machine, Legendary’s adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s Eisner Award-winning comic book title, Ex Machina, and they worked on Netflix’s adaptation of Gothic drama Rebecca. They also did some uncredited script polishing on Snake Eyes.
