Ansel Elgort Set to Star in TOKYO VICE Series
Warner Media’s streaming service has ordered a new series called Tokyo Vice and has hired actor Ansel Elgort to star. This will be the first series Elgort has taken on, as he’s known for movies such as The Fault In Our Stars, Baby Driver, and the upcoming films The Goldfinch and West Side Story. Here’s what we know so far about the story of Tokyo Vice, as well as Elgort’s character, from Variety:
Elgort will star as Jake Adelstein, an American journalist who embeds himself into the Tokyo Vice police squad to reveal corruption. The series will chronicle Jake’s daily descent into the neon soaked underbelly of Tokyo, where nothing, and no one is truly what or who they seem.
Elgort is the first cast in the series, which will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who wrote and directed The Glass Castle. Tokyo Vice is based on the non-fiction book by Jake Adelstein, which is “a first-hand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Beat.” This sounds like it will be a really interesting show, and Elgort is one of my favorite young actors out there right now, so I am confident it will be a good watch.
Does this sound like a series you’ll want to watch?
