ANT-MAN 3 Director Peyton Reed Confirms The Wasp Will Be Back With Top Billing Alongside Ant-Man
Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp are two of Marvel’s most underrated movies, in my opinion. Paul Rudd is a perfect Scott Lang, a lovable comic relief who made the events of Avengers: Endgame possible after teaming up with Hope Van Dyne aka The Wasp, played by Evangeline Lilly, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer). The second film laid the groundwork for the time travel in Endgame, but it also became the first Marvel movie to give top billing to a female superhero.
The director of the first two films, as well as the upcoming third, Peyton Reed, recently talked about this, as well as The Wasp’s role in the third film in a recent interview with Yahoo!, saying:
"They’re a partnership, and she’s a very, very important part of that. And that was a very gratifying thing, I guess technically we were the first Marvel movie with a female hero in the title of the movie. Finding that balance in that movie, that’s very important to me because that’s very much a men’s playing field, historically. But that’s really, really changing now in a great way."
He went on to confirm that he obviously can’t say anything about the first movie, but he did say:
“We have [cracked the story],” Reed tells us of the film’s status. “Nothing is official yet, but we’re quietly working. We’re working through the pandemic.”
Good to hear! It will be great when the Marvel Cinematic Universe is back on track, and we can expect all of our movies back on a regular schedule. Are you excited for the third Ant-Man and the Wasp adventure?
Ant-Man 3 is set to hit theaters in 2022.
