ANT-MAN Director Peyton Reed Reportedly Pitched a FANTASTIC FOUR Movie to Marvel, and It Could Be Coming in 2022
A lot of Marvel fans have been wondering when Marvel Studios would bring the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into the MCU. Kevin Feige previously said that it would be at least five years before we see their take on the X-Men, but it looks like we won’t have to wait that long for a Fantastic Four movie!
According to a report from Geeks Worldwide, Marvel is planning to get a Fantastic Four movie into theaters in 2022. They also say that Ant-Man director Peyton Reed is pushing to direct the film and that he has “already pitched his vision for the movie to Feige multiple times.”
That pitch is said to include “a 1960s setting that involves the Quantum Realm, and possibly The Black Knight.” This would be pretty freakin’ awesome if it turns out to be true! Reed previously talked about his interest in directing a fantastic Four movie saying:
“Visually, one of the things we always talked about – and this was 2003 – was The Fantastic Four as daytime superheroes. They don’t have secret identities. They’re very much a part of the fabric of Manhattan. In that universe, if you go to New York to the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty or the Baxter Building, it was all a part of that. We talked about it being a ’60s period movie, but Fox at the time was not into it.”
I would love to see a ‘60s set Fantastic Four movie! That would be so cool! I hope that this news turns out to be true. I like what Reed has done with the Ant-Man franchise, and I think he’d be a good fit for Fantastic Four. We’ll find out soon enough, as Feige plans on bringing Marvel to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con this year, and there he will reveal their big plans for Phase 4!
There are already a few dates set up for 2022 Marvel movies including February 18th, May 6th, and July 19th. Maybe Fantastic Four will end up filling one of those dates. Apparently Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has May 6th and Captain Marvel 2 February 18th, so that leaves July 19th.
What do you think about Reed possibly directing a Fantastic Four movie for Marvel? What do you think about his possible pitch for the film?
