ANT-MAN Director Wants to Make a Hank Pym Prequel Film

We've already heard that Ant-Man director Peyton Reed would be interested in making a sequel, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has offered up some details on what we might see happen in a sequel. The director has now revealed that he'd also be keen on developing a prequel movie that revolves around Michael Douglas' Hank Pym.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Reed said:

"Listen, if we were lucky enough to be able to do a sequel or a prequel, I’d be way into it. I’ve really fallen in love with these characters. I was always in love with the characters in the comic book world, but there’s a lot of story to tell with Hank Pym."

I haven't seen Ant-Man yet, but I know we are going to get some kind of flashback scenes in the upcoming film. It would be interesting to see an in-depth prequel film centered around Pym. Reed has expressed in the past how much of a fan he is of Hank Pym, telling Marvel.com:

“Growing up reading comics in the late ‘60s, early ‘70s, as a really young kid, he’s one of the defining characters in the Marvel Comics universe [to me]. Hank Pym is one of the most compelling characters in the Marvel comics world.”

It will be interesting to see if anything ever comes from this, but I'd be surprised if we did see a prequel movie centered on Pym. The closest things we've seen that can be considered prequels in the MCU are Captain America: The First Avenger and the Agent Carter series, so I guess there's always a chance.

Would you be up for a Hank Pym prequel film? You can watch the interview with Reed below as he talks about this.

Ant-Man is so good, we're already talking about prequels and sequels!
